In the crowd

Hi Everyone, my 2013 new year resolution (or at least one of them) is to get one post out there every weekend so here goes this weeks post: 'In the crowd'. 

In 2010 I was in Amsterdam for work and had an afternoon free so jumped on a bike and off I went to Central Station to take photos of the largest crowd of bikes I have ever seen in my life. If not mistaken it must be the hugest bicycle parking lot in the world. Well whatever won't bore you anymore here goes a short selection of pics I took:

1st Photo: Among the endless sea of bikes there were these 2 that were like jumping out like 2 kids asking for attention.

2nd Photo: Among the chaotic crowd I found this peaceful couple. Two very old bicycles that it looks had been stranded there forever, it looked like they had aged together and were very sweetly holding hands as the 1st day they met.

3rd Photo: I found this bike with a very nice bell (or however u call it) with the (Dutch?) crown engraving which with the very colorful orange backdrop of its body made it a completely Dutch specimen.

4th Photo: I was already heading back when this bright Nemo bell drew my attention. I took this picture against a very colorful blurred background which in fact looked like a coral reef and just loved it.

Hola Todos, mi resolución para el 2013 (o por lo menos una de ellas) es postear algo todos los fines de semana asique acá va el de esta semana.

En el 2010 estaba en Amsterdam por trabajo y tuve una tarde libre asique me subi a una bici y sali para la Central Estacion a sacar fotos de la major aglomeracion de bicicletas, creo yo, del mundo. Bueno no los aburro mas aca van las fotos:

1era Foto: En el mar de bicicletas estas dos parecian estar saltando y pidiendo atencion como dos chicos.

2da Foto: Entre todo ese chaos encontré una vieja pareja de enamorados. Dos bicicletas muy viejas que parece habían sido abandonadas hace rato, que parecían haber envejecido juntos & por suerte se tenían el uno al otro tomandose de la mano como el primer día que se conocieron.

3era Foto: Encontre esta bicicleta con este timbre/campana con la corona (Holandesa?) que con el anaranjado cuerpo lo hacia un espécimen Holandes perfecto.

4ta Foto: Ya estaba emprendiendo la vuelta cuando esta imagen de Nemo en un timbre/campana me atrajo la atención. Busque el angulo en el cual pudiera sacarla contra el fondo colorido, fuera de foco y que parecen coloridos corales. Me encanto.

Summit @ Brugge

Happy New Year to everyone! Looking forward to a great 2013 full of peace, happiness and creativity. For this 1st 2013 post I chose one of the best photos I've ever taken. I loved the mood and the clear dark contours of the slope & windmill against the back 3D light effect on the clouds together with the man's silhouette which puts the photo into perspective, gives it a dynamic feeling and dramatism.

Para este 1er post del 2013 elegi una de las mejores fotos que jamas he sacado. Me ha gustado desde siempre por el tono (mood) y los bien definidos oscuros contornos de la loma con el molino de viento contra las nubes iluminadas dando ese effecto 3D y la silueta del hombre llegando a la cima que le da un sentido de perspectiva, accion y dramatismo.

Day & Night Graffiti

Hi Guys, before going on holidays this winter/summer to Argentina I took this series of fotos of this piece of graffiti I really loved. I posted a snapshot I had taken with my i-phone and promised I would follow up with a compo. Well I finally had time (yes 2 months later) to download the photos and create this compo. I loved both images cause although the light, therefore the mood, is so different the graffiti still stands out. I always had this idea that graffiti or any street artwork although usually created at night comes alive during the day. Well this particular one seems to be wide awake no matter what time you visit it, wanting to reach out at you.

Hola todos, antes de irme de vacaciones este invierno/verano a Argentina tome una serie de fotos a este graffiti que realmente me encanto. Postie una foto que habia sacado con mi i-phone y les prometi que bajaria una compo. Bueno finalmente tuve tiempo (sisi despues de 2 meses) de bajar las fotos y crear esta compo. Me encantaron las imagenes porque a pesar de que la luz es tan differente el graffiti parece salirse de la pared. Sempre tuve la idea que el graffti o cualquier otro arte callejero a pesar de ser creado durante la noche toma vida durante el dia. Bueno este graffiti en particular parece estar vivo y queriendo salirse de la pared no importa la hora.

Amsterdam Bajo Cero

Hi all, 3 weeks ago with Amsterdam well below cero degrees, -8 to be exact, and full of snow and ice we went out to take photos to Amsterdam's center. In a really touristy area off a terribly busy shopping street I found a very quiet walk with a few nice restaurants and a series of wall-art. Loved the simple lines & bright colors of the artwork with which I made this compo. Enjoy.

Hola a todos, hace 3 semanas en con temperaturas bajo de cero, -8 para ser exacto, con mucha nieve y hielo salimos al centro de Amsterdam a sacar fotos. En una zona realmente tourista y saliendo de una de las calles principales de shopping encontre una calle peatonal sorpresivamente tranquila con varios restaurantes y series de arte callejero. Me encantaron la lineas simples y brillantes colores de estos murales con los cuales hice esta compo. Disfruten.

Polaroid Fun

Hi Guys, its been a while but here goes some much needed fun.

So, for Xmas while in my house in Patagonia I bought myself an old Polaroid SX 70 camera. This was the 1st Polaroid that came to market in the 1970's. Its a beautiful retractible camera.

Thank god that IMPOSSIBLE Project has re-opened an old Polaroid factory in Holland and has been making film for all Polaroids out there!

So it took me quite a few rounds of film to learn how to use the camera + film...but I finally got it and I had a blast! This is SO much fun. It also really gets you thinking on what to shoot...and the overall conditions since u have only one shot. I love it. I really do cause every one of these is unique. And what makes them unique too is their imperfection. In an era of megapixels, image quality & sharpness these imperfect images stand out.

As you can see I chose quite vintage subjects too so it would fit the Polaroid concept:

Some vintage toys from my time showed off on a window, Coca-Cola bottles on our window sill, a hand painted glass shade, a night light sign & my preferred shot of a Seagull. I loved the different shades of light-blue & turquoise-like blue together with the sense of freedom the image portrays. Its like a painting.

I strongly recommend u explore taking pictures with this forgotten format. You'll have a blast, I'm telling you!

Hola Gente, hace rato que no aparezco pero bueno aca van unas muy necesitadas fotos divertidas.

Para navidad, desde la Patagonia, me auto-regale una camara Polaroid SX70. Esta es la primera camara Polaroid que salio al mercado en los 70's. Es una camara 'hermosa', realmente especial, practica & retraible.

Gracias a dios por IMPOSSIBLE Project que re-abrio una vieja fabrica de Polaroid en Holanda y ha estado produciendo differentes films para los differentes modelos de camaras existentes.

Me tomo unas cuantos cartuchos de films para encontrarle la vuelta...pero finalmente lo logre & lo que me diverti!! Me encanta porque te pone a pensar a que y como sacarle una foto...y las condiciones ya que solo tenes una oportunidad. Realmente me encanta eso porque hace que cada una de las fotos sea unica. Tambien lo que las hace tan unicas son lo imperfectas que son. En esta era de megapixels, calidad de imagen & nitidez, estas imagenes imperfectas sobresalen.

Como bien pueden ver saque fotos que estan alineadas con el concepto 'vintage' de Polaroid:

Juguetes de mi epoca en una ventana, tres botellas de Coca-Cola en la ventana de casa, un colorido vidrio pintado a mano, un cartel luminoso de un restaurante & mi photo preferida la de una gaviota. Esta ultima realmente me encanto por los differentes tintes de celeste & turqueza junto con la sensacion de libertad que transmite. Es como una pintura.

Les recomiendo que exploren este olvidado formato. Es realmente muy divertido!

Iluminated Graffiti

Hi guys, here I am on holidays but didn't want to go without a beautiful piece of graffiti I came across in Amsterdam just around a dear friend's home (Brian). What really attracted me about this image is the mood, the old fashoin street lamp shining upon the bright orange colors of the graffiti. I was so enchanted by the mood that I only realized what the graffiti said (Ruby) only a few days later. I took various photos of this image both with my Leica (by day and by night) and with my i-phone. This one is obviously taken with my i-phone. Will post the Leica ones in the new year. Enjoy!

Hola todos, aca estoy de vacaciones pero no queria dejar de mostrarles un muy lindo graffiti que encontre en Amsterdam, a la vuelta de la casa de un gran amigo (Brian). Lo que realmente me atrajo de esta photo es el ambiente, el character que transmite, la vieja lampara de calle iluminando los brillantes colores anaranjados del graffiti. Estaba tan embobado-encantado que solo me di cuenta de lo que decia el graffiti (Ruby) varios dias despues. Tome varias fotos de esto con mi Leica (de noche y de dia) y con mi i-phone. Esta es obviamente sacada con mi i-phone. Mas adelante en el ano nuevo posteare las mismas sacadas con mi Leica. Disfruten!

Living Graffiti - NY

As you already know I travelled to NY in February this year and took zillions of photos which in fact I have already posted here on my blog earlier this year. Well, cleaning up my hard drive I came across this series I had totally forgotten about. I caught this artist re-working this wall of colorful graffiti art. Loved the bright colors jumping out as if the wall was backlit. So vivid it looks all these colorful faces have a life of their own.

Como ya saben en Febrero de este ano viaje a NY & tome miles de fotos las cuales ya postie en este blog mas temprano este ano. Bueno, mientras limpiaba el disco rigido de mi compu me encontre con esta serie de fotos que tenia totalmente olvidada. Encontre a este artista re-trabajando este mural de graffiti. Me encantaron los brillantes y vividos colores que parecen hacer que las caras salten fuera de las fotos como si tuveran vida propia.
